nanban movie reviev.........

With director Shankar and Vijay coming together for the first time one would expect a cracker on screen for both are known for mass masala movies. But the film is a straight contrast.
At the same time, 'Nanban' lives up to the hype that surrounded it. The flaws in present day education and the peer pressure have left many youngsters depressed today. The need of the hour is to bring a change in the entire system. Shankar seems to have taken this in his stride to delivers it with aplomb.
It is no regular film from Shankar. 'Nanban' doesn't launch a crusade against anyone, neither it has grand sets nor punch lines. Rather a soft and breezy entertainer with a purpose. For Vijay too, it is a different film. After playing a brawny man in his recent flicks, he opts to do a brainy student.
There is subtle heroism all through with feel-good moments. Remakes are a risky proposition. But when a success formula is rightly recreated without much tampering, it obviously ends up as an engaging entertainer.
The movie begins with Venkataramakrishnan (Srikanth) and Sevarkodi Senthil (Jiiva) going in search of their good friend Panchavan Parivendan aka Pari (Vijay).
They are joined by Srivatsan (Sathyan) in their journey. Cut to flashback, Venkat and Senthil meet Pari in the college. They become close buddies and Pari's charisma and practical ways win him the admiration of all.
Pari is against the educational system and insists his classmates not to run behind grades rather derive pleasure by understanding and assimilating things. His ideas incur the wrath of his principal Virumandi Sandhanam aka Virus (Sathyaraj). He wants students to become a book worm to excel in academics.
Venkat wants to pursue his ambition of wildlife photography but his parents compel him to study engineering. Senthil hails from a poor family and is compelled to study professional course only to bail out his family from all troubles.
Pari brings a sea change in their attitudes towards life. There is Riya (Ileana D' Cruz), daughter of Virus. She pursues medicine. Pari's admirable ways results in romance between them. Eventually, Pari ends up winning all hearts with his acts. However, after passing out examinations in flying colours, Pari suddenly disappears.
Cut to present, the friends take Riya with them and go in search of Pari. They have some surprises lined up. Did they achieve their mission and whether the friends reunite or not forms the crux.
Three cheers to Vijay. There are no punch lines or flashy introduction scenes or kuthu numbers. A sophisticated Vijay is what one sees here. He is cool, breezy and brainy. He is trim, fit and fine as engineering student. He brings out right emotions and stands a pillar to the script.
There is Jiiva and Srikanth. They get equal screen presence and does the job entrusted to them well. Both add strength to Vijay and the trio rocks. Sathyaraj as Virus imitates Boman Irani (who played in the original) at many places, while Sathyan as the comical engineering student tickles the funny bone. Ileana, the skinny actress, shines in song sequences thanks to her oomph factor.
As like any Shankar's film there are some surprising cameos in Nanban too. The likes of S J Suryah and Anuya chip in with interesting performance.
Also, quite like any other Shankar film, Nanban is technically-brilliant. Manoj Paramahamsa excels with his cinematography skills. The bright colours in which the campus life is captured deserves a special mention.
Resul Pookutty's audio recording is clear and clean. Kudos to Editor Anthony, whose razor-sharp editing skills have made the movie crisp. Harris Jayaraj's music is good especially the numbers 'En Frienda pola...' and 'Asku Laska...' But the same cannot be said of the other numbers.
'Nanban' is a clear entertainer. For those who had seen the original, there may be nothing new. But for the Tamil audience, it is a whiff of fresh air from the mindless masala movies. A welcome change indeed for movie-buffs in here...

why are we celebrating THAIPUSAM?

Our religion is one of the oldest religion which is inherited by Nayanmar's, Yogi's and ect. There's always excellent reason behind every rituals/tradition. But sadly, this pocking culture, to say is a misleaded culture passed down by our encestors.. We never bother to ask the reason behind it and blindly followed it.

Now, Thaipusam has become a place to show off heroism of the so called devotes. Its sicken to see how ppl hurt themself  in the name of sacrifice, creating bad impression towards our religion. So, it's time for younger generation start asking "Y" for every rituals they do/involve!! We must noe our religion well for the sake of our community and future generation!

So, let me tell you a small story.
  • Once, there's a Murugan devotee called "Idumban", go all the way up the hill to do abishegam to Lord Murugan every day.
  • Not even missing a single day, he'd bring milk and water in a two different container, carries on his shoulder, using a long stick (like kavadi) and do thirumanjanam (abishegam) to Lord Murugan.
  •  Then, one fine day,(month of Thai, Poose Natchatiram) Lord Murugan give Mukthi to Idumban for his pure dedication and bakthi.
  •  Seeing this, ppl around his village started to do the same since then. They'll bring milk, lemon juice, tairu, karumbu chaaru and ect to do thirumanjanam for Lord Murugan, hoping they'll get His blessings, same like Idumban.
A correct way to carry paal kudamKaavadithis is the statue of Ibumban carrying pots of milk and water

As time pass by, some how, this tradition was manipulated and misleaded.Actually,On Thaipusam, we can go to any Murugan temple, not only Batu Cave, bring any abhishegam items, witness the thirumanjanam (abishegam) then listen to His songs, sing along, and get His prasadham to home.Thats all!! Simple huh??

But what are we doing today??

velayutham-movie special preview

Cast:Vijay, Genelia, Hansika Motwani, Saranya Mohan
Direction:'Jayam' Raja
Production:Aascar Ravichandran
Music:Vijay Antony

Superhero projects are very rare in Tamil cinema, but things seem to be changing with Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay's 'Velayudham' and Jeeva's project with Mysskin, 'Mugamoodi' in the pipeline.

Ilaya Thalapathi's 'Velayudham' is set for a August release and the action packed thriller is one of those movies, where the common man is forced to take responsibilities and whack the goons up, for the common good.

Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay, who plays Vetrivel in this movie, leads a life of peace in a village, with his widowed mother and a younger sister, Kaveri played by Saranya Mohan. Hansika Motwani plays his morai ponnu in the film and she is smitten by him, overprotective of Vijay and has also tried her hands at some comedy through this film!

Everything is fine and for his sister to enter wedlock, he needs to withdraw the money he has invested in a chit-fund company, for which he comes to Chennai, where he meets a TV journalist, Deepa, played by Genelia D' Souza.

There's a scene where Genelia is harassed by goons, following which, there's an accident where many of city rowdies lose their lives. During which, Genelia creates her own fictional character, a superhero, 'Velayudham' and utilizes her journalist image and claims that it was this superhero that killed the goons!

Incidentally, Vijay escapes a bomb blast by luck, and since he is the only one to escape the blast, people begin to refer to him as the superhero, 'Velayudham'! Genelia later meets Vijay and confides in him, her little secret and requests him to continue to convince people that he is a superhero, to which Vijay refuses downright.

However, due to circumstances, when he and many others are cheated by the chit-fund company, he dons the role of this superhero, Velayudham, and avenges the villains and tries to put an end to corruption in the society.

What follows next as a racy thriller screenplay is the plot of 'Velayudham.'

'Velayudham' has its stunt sequences by Tom Delmar of 'Star Wars' and 'Braveheart' fame, who in an interview expressed that the movie boasts off never-seen-before stunt sequences as the action sequences are complex and referred to Vijay as the one of the most dynamic actors...

Ayngaran International on Velayutham :

Velayutham would be screened with nothing less than 1200 prints all over the globe. Vijay's film would always have a mega opening and this film is also growing big with Ayngaran films acquiring the overseas rights and all set for a magnanimous release. The trailer of this film was released recently and the expectations have sky rocketed from then on. Ayngaran and Vijay will always rock.

Looks like with an ensemble of star cast, brilliant action sequences, a superhero Vijay and the right dose of emotions, 'Velayudham' will take us all on Vijay's superhero journey...

Do Not Touch - Tanda lelaki masih teruna

Benarkah lelaki yang beraksi begini ketika bergambar membawa maksud yang dia masih teruna?

Kajian telah dibuat?

Sejauh mana kebenarannya?
